My conclusion of the American experience is, our gov't is nothing more than puppets for the rich, and the rich are nothing more than evil sociopaths.

I have read a lot of books about how awful end stage monopoly capitalism IS. But the one that infuriated me was "Diary of an Economic Hitman." That book can convert anybody.

You have always been one of my favorite commentators and this article is one big reason why.You have never lost compassion and empathy for working class people.So much of what has been happening with working people since the Clinton years has been their need to be respected.Donald Trump gave them that respect.The Democrats didn’t,don’t,and won’t.

I haven't regretted the time I've spent reading your posts since I signed up several months ago. You summarize things that have been bounding around in my thoughts. Your language is quite accessible to me. Thanks much.

I could quote many of the lines above for my friends and neighbors. This one for me is the purest nugget: “Everyone knows this isn't about sausage, right? It's about the fear that their comfortable, traditional world is being left behind. Give 'em a break, they are just scared.”

I hope to never forget the humanity under the MAGA hats.

And yes, the greedy rich are evil.

Mr. Eskow, I agree with your points. Corporations, for the most part, are looking forward to issuing stock buybacks for the shareholders. As you mentioned the situations facing rural white families faces, don’t forget the native Americans.

I think of fast food restaurants located in areas wherein their food is available, helping the rise of obesity. Or Purdue Pharma “bribing” doctors to push opioids. It seems that irregardless of health, safety and environmental issues, the stockholders come first.

As I listen to older family members speak of the old days, and how everything was better. The 1950’s. And then using their cell phones. Apologies for the rambling.
